Paris Terror Attacks and the Eagles of Death Metal

(UPDATED towards end of post)

Sundays are typically my day of rest (when possible), and my catch up day for the weekly news. Today, I expected the standard fare from my regular news venues and couldn’t help but notice the name of the band that was playing during the Paris theater shooting on Friday night.

The “Eagles of Death Metal”? Really? Now I am a child of the 80′s so that immediately caught my attention. I never heard of them before but evidently they are pretty big. They seem to have no problem selling out large venues. They have been interviewed by Rolling Stone magazine and performed on Jay Leno and Conan O Brian before.

So here I am on my “day off” attempting to catch up on the “war on terror” news and instead I am watching, in it’s entirety, a previously recorded LIVE “Eagles of Death Metal” concert.

Click below and meet the band!

Lead singer Jesse “The Devil” Hughes is an ordained minister with a very “intimidating and problematic” personality according to another interview

Click on this image for a hyperlink below taking you to a google search of all their albums and art work. This artwork on this album is supposed to be a play on the old Loverboy Get Lucky album with “fingers crossed behind my back” but with devil horns instead. Their other album covers are a bit more racy.

They have a song called “speaking in tongues” where at one point the singer mockingly goes off into incomprehensible babble, and another song called “I really want to be in L.A.” which starts out with “I came to L.A. to make rock ‘n’ roll, Along the way I had to sell my soul“. Well there you have it gang. I am very curious to know what song was playing when the shooting began. I cannot identify what song they are playing here, but this is a short video of the moments when the shooting began just posted on warleaks. My heart breaks for the members of this band and whatever dark things they have seen. I mourn for all the dead, together with all of France and Europe.

These guys are the exact kind of edgy, in your face American rockers I grew up with in my youth. Front man Jesse Hughes claims that Roger Waters from Pink Floyd asked him to boycott Israel and I cheer Jesse Hughes’ response. Some of the things he says makes me think he might be a bit confused, possibly a backslidden Christian believer. He said in one interview, “The theory of evolution is for fools who believe in “magical talking monkeys.”

Well, I prefer to stick with facts so this is as far as I go. They are very talented musicians and I am glad they survived the Paris show.

UPDATE — I have figured out exactly what song they are playing during the shootings. it is called “kiss the devil”.  I also have determined they are doing a guitar solo that takes place after the first 1:20 seconds of this song. Here is a video of the exact same song played the night before in Glasgow. I am posting a linked image of their setlist and the lyrics that had been sung up until the moment of the massacre. Take note of the name of the last song on the setlist which was “cut by terrorist attacks and shootings“.

“Kiss the devil” lyrics kissthedevil

Who’ll love the devil?…
Who’ll sing his song?…
Who will love the devil and his song?…
I’ll love the devil!…
I’ll sing his song!…
I will love the devil and his song!…
Who’ll love the devil?…
Who’ll kiss his tongue?…
Who will kiss the devil on his tongue?…
I’ll love the devil!…
I’ll kiss his tongue!…
I will kiss the devil on his tongue!…

So with the Eagles of Death Metal (EODM) being so popular, it is a certainty that their fans in the sold out crowd knew and sang along with the lyrics. The guitar solo in the video is at about 1:22 so these lyrics above has already been sung. What a sad thing to realize the last thing many of those EODM fans in that concert said before being blown away by ISIS terrorists was “I will kiss the devil on his tongue”.

May God have mercy on their souls.

Confirmed: Facebook is Stalking You

NYpost

Adios Facebook

Before any of you accuse me of being nuts or paranoid, and just to prove I stand in good company, I offer a link to The New York Post who is pretty much saying the exact same thing in their article here, Yes. Facebook is stalking you.

I have always been suspicious that Facebook censors my posts. I always knew many of my friends and family could not see some of the things I posted. I started to see a pattern. I first thought it was just me being narcissistic, but turns out I was right.  According to The Electronic Frontier Foundation Facebook actually does censor our posts.

This is what they do and I suspect they do even more. In my opinion, I suspect that there are addictive and seductive codings inserted into the raw backbone of the facebook programming. This is why many of us can’t quit or need to keep checking it every waking moment of each and every day. We are far beyond any requirement for “proof” about the censorship portions. Facebook is openly attempting to manipulate the way we think.

James Poniewozik NY Times Critic exposes FAKE story about “angry Christians and stupid Starbucks cups”.

For example, if you like or share an obviously fake story from some shock jock hating on stupid starbucks cups and then bashing Christians, it goes viral everywhere you get top spots on Facebook. TOP SPOTS for fake news! Throw up something conservative or a Christian video or some actually relevant news and it get buried almost instantly by Facebook’s coding and algorithms, if not cut off completely.

Nobody likes a stalker. It creepy and dangerous for everyone. Why do we let Facebook keep expanding the list of things it knows about us and the ways its willing to use that data to make them billions of dollars of revenue? For our entertainment? Not a good enough reason! When did our own entertainment become the most important thing for us so much that we are willing to give away EVERYTHING ELSE? Folks, have we all lost our minds? Will they ever stop or keep expanding? Where does it go from here?

I have determined this Friday the 13th is going to be bad luck for Facebook. I am cutting off the stalker permanently on that day. I’m not going to make this a long post. Just sending a couple more salvos to the stalker before I retreat completely.

ICBM Launch last night off Los Angeles – VIDEO

First the headline on Drudge Report yesterday warned, “US Military Closing Airspace around LAX” or something dramatic. I can’t remember his exact words but next time i’ll try to remember to screenshot his headline.

I guess So Cal residents were “freaking out” last night as they were about to be Nuked or invaded by Aliens or suffer some other Hollywood Blockbuster worthy event as CNN reports here. Reports flooded twitter, facebook and YouTube that there was a big bright blue UFO exploding over Los Angeles last night like in this video below.

PROFANITY ALERT Turn down your volume if you have kiddies around or just prefer not to hear the swearing. While these Los Angelinos insist “it had to be a UFO” there is another explanation. (the “explosion” starts at about 1:09)

Here is the the Navy’s official statement on the event from the Third Fleet’s Cmdr. Ryan Perry via Channel 7, an NBC affiliate in San Diego:

“Navy Strategic Systems Programs conducted scheduled Trident II (D5) missile test flight at sea from USS Kentucky, an Ohio Class SSBN, in the Pacific Test Range off the coast of Southern California. The tests were part of a scheduled, ongoing system evaluation test. Launches are conducted on a frequent, recurring basis to ensure the continued reliability of the system. Each test activity provides valuable information about our systems, thus contributing to assurance in our capabilities.

The missile was not armed. Strategic Systems Programs does not routinely announce missile testing. Information regarding the test launch of Trident II (D5) missiles is classified before the launch.”

Missile-Away!

Artist conception of Ohio Class Sub launching an ICBM

The US Navy explanation seems to check out. Other bloggers have screenshots of marinetraffic.com last night which show the entire area between Pt Mugu and Santa Cruz Island offshore blocked off by the US Navy and the USS Independence Combat Littoral Ship patrolling the area. The USS Kentucky was underwater and the launch of the ICBM probably would have been much more impressive from the bridge of the Independence than any YouTube video.

Incentivizing Interisland Airline Competition

The Garden Island News has published an article about Kauai County Council asking state lawmakers to explore incentivizing interisland airline competition in the State of Hawaii. The Star Advertiser and KITV have also reported on this proposal, along with others.

I like the spirit of the “Unconquered Island” lawmakers, but lets just stop for a minute right here. The whole proposal has several problems.

First here are a few snippets.

Councilman Ross Kagawa, who introduced the resolution said, “We need to speak up already. Right now this is a serious problem.”

Ann Botticelli, SVP Corporate Communications and public affairs officer, speaking for Hawaiian, said the company keeps its fares low and that a one-way ticket price from Lihue to Honolulu for 12 months ending March 30 was $68 (or $82.70 with taxes).

Rep. Dee Morikawa, District 16 on Kauai, said “Maybe the resolution will spur the discussion”

oh-really

Well I DO NOT think the government, local or federal can fix any problems, perceived or otherwise, with interisland air travel. They can’t force someone IN to business as easily as we have seen airlines forced OUT of business in recent years. New or existing airlines might not want to get tangled too tightly with State of Hawaii lawmakers.

These lawmakers could have just listened to me when I warned them about Mesa back in 2004 but that’s long forgotten history now. An ounce of prevention would have been worth a pound of resolutions and “spurring discussions” but it is now 2015 and both Aloha and Mesa are long gone from Hawaii’s skies.

Mesa left Hawaii’s economy a “scorched earth” (precisely as I predicted in 2004) and Hawaii has barely recovered now many years later. Hawaiian can and will charge whatever the market will bear. No other airline wants to enter the vortex of interisland passenger travel after so many other failed operations in recent history.

The people of Hawaii were played. How did anyone think $19 and $29 tickets would turn out? Just be thankful Mesa’s shame in Hawaii is unforgettable to this day. Hawaiian would eventually chose to use Empire instead of Mesa for their Ohana operation and Mesa would ultimately depart Hawaii for good. Empire is the same certificate holder that operated Mahalo for Robert Iwamoto back in the 1990s. Small world isn’t it?
